  • Dir: Federico Fellini

  • Italy, 1963, 138 minmins, DCP

  • Cast: Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimée, Claudia Cardinale

Transforming a filmmaker’s creative crisis into a grand epic of profound fascination and imagination, Fellini invented one of cinema’s most recognizable touchstones with his spiritual and artistic musings. Beginning with the iconic image of Mastroianni floating off into the sky, the dreamlike sequences revolve around a famed director, exhausted by his evasions, lies and sensual appetites. Notable for its sublime use of flashbacks and surrealistic touches interwoven with realism, this enduring semiautobiographical masterpiece works like magic and continues to cast its spell.
