California Dreamin'(California Dreamin' (nesfârșit))

  • Dir: Cristian Nemescu

  • Romania, 2007, Romanian/English, 148mins, DCP

  • Cast: Armand Assante, Jamie Elman, Răzvan Vasilescu

A buoyant culture-clash burlesque, California Dreamin ' imagines a troop of Kosovo-bound American marines transporting military equipment being stranded by a corrupt stationmaster in a small Romanian village. Their arrival sparks a mix of tensions, opportunism, and youthful lust from different generations, transforming the provincial life into a vibrant tapestry filled with rich caricatures of bureaucratic inefficiency, unfettered human desire, and illusory American dreams. Revealing Cristian Nemescu as one of the New Romanian Cinema's rising stars, this engaging satire is an eloquent testimony to his promising career, tragically curtailed by a car accident.
