Child's Pose(Poziția copilului)

  • Dir: Călin Peter Netzer

  • Romania, 2013, Romanian, 112mins, DCP

  • Cast: Luminita Gheorghiu, Bogdan Dumitrache, Florin Zamfirescu

A brilliantly crafted look at post-Ceaușescu society, Călin Peter Netzer’s Golden Bear winner is a sharp family drama that exposes the moral malaise of Romania’s bourgeoisie. Cornelia, a wealthy and overbearing mother, will stop at nothing to protect her son. When a fatal traffic accident threatens his future, she spares no effort in cleaning up his mess. Darting like a restless witness, the handheld camera captures a mother consumed by possessive love attempting to save a son desperate to break free. A searing portrait of love twisted by control, laying bare the dark underbelly of pervasive corruption and bureaucratic apathy.
