Deerskin
Dir: Quentin Dupieux
France, 2019, 77 minmins, DCP
Cast: Jean Dujardin, Adele Haenel, Albert Delpy
Nothing comes between Georges and his 100% deerskin jacket – but does that mean that the two of them really need to talk? A greying Jean Dujardin – whom we all remember from The Artist (2011) – brings to eerie life Quentin Dupieux’s eccentric absurdist world in which a nobody clothes himself in power and meaning. And then creates a film within a film that launches into a deranged murderous rampage to match his “striking killer style”. A skewed, mischievous study of life and film from an everchimerical filmmaker-musician known for the obsessive visions of Rubber (35th) and Wrong (2012).
