Détective
Dir: Jean-Luc Godard

A crumbling Paris hotel houses four groups of people whose paths occasionally cross. An airplane pilot and his wife, who is having an affair with the manager of a boxer with his entourage, are involved in a murky scheme to latch on to 49 million francs, with both the Mafia and the police circling the situation. Finally, there is a detective and his group trying to solve a murder there two years ago. Godard’s deconstructed film noir unfolds as a series of quick sketches, tenuously held together by the charisma of its stars, a dark throwaway humour, and the spontaneity and precision of its mise-en-scene.
