François Truffaut: My Life, A Screenplay(François Truffaut, Le scénario de ma vie)

  • Dir: David Teboul

  • France, 2024, French, 100mins, DCP

Beginning with The 400 Blows, every François Truffaut film is like a page of his autobiography, until ‘Fin’ appeared when he was 52. Before his untimely death, the French New Wave pioneer was still engaged in sharing the story of his youth and family history with his childhood friend Claude de Givray. Nearly 40 years on, David Teboul takes over the incomplete task – Truffaut to present himself on screen, reciting his private letters with family and friends in Louis Garrel’s voice, with his life of love, joy and doubts reflected in the affecting moments of his films. More than a perplexed Antoine Doinel, it is a tender and intimate portrait of a man who has written the most fascinating screenplay for his life.
