Grizzly Man
Dir: Werner Herzog
USA, 2005, 104minmins, DCP
“If I show weakness, I’m dead”. So speaks Timothy Treadwell, the “Grizzly Man” who spent 13 summers living among the wild bears in Alaska, and ended up as lunch for one of his beloved bears. Editing the hundreds of hours of videotape that Treadwell had shot at extreme risk to himself, Herzog brings to us dramatic shots of the wildlife and footage of the man’s posturing rants to camera. A poignant, beautiful and absolutely hilarious portrait of a gifted yet manic man, in a bewildering rumination of the nature of nature, and the nature of man.
