Here and Elsewhere (ICI ET AILLEURS)

After the Palestinian Liberation Organisation members featured in 1970's Until Victory were killed in the events of Black September, Godard and Miéville repurposed footage shot for the earlier unfinished film by dialectically juxtaposing it (‘elsewhere’) with newly shot material interrogating the function of documentary news images in consumer society (‘here’), as represented by a French bourgeois family viewing the processed imagery on television. Godard and Miéville extend their self-reflexive critique on the politics of audiovisual communication by reviewing footage and questioning decisions made in the earlier film.
