Breathing life into Count Dracula with an Oxford accent, Christopher Lee plays the prince of darkness as a debonair aristocrat, whose cool charm adds to the sexual undercurrents and inherent eroticism of the vampire myth. Deviating sharply from Stoker’s original, Terence Fisher reinterprets it into a sexually-charged, grotesque nightmare, defining the Hammer Studio as a trailblazer in the Gothic Horror genre.
