Yakuza member Narita is consumed by only one thing: how to survive his boss’ annual karaoke competition. Desperate to avoid his boss’ cruel and unusual punishment for losing, Narita recruits high school choir member Oka to teach him how to sing. The trouble is, Narita is impossibly hopeless as a singer. The stakes may be low, but Yamashita Nobuhiro’s deadpan approach to an unlikely friendship and Ayano Go’s hilariously self-deprecating performance make this a winning comedy that will inspire you to hit the karaoke box. Rarely has the butchering beloved pop classics ever been funnier.
