Strange Way of Life

Twenty years after turning down the chance to direct Brokeback Mountain, Pedro Almodóvar finally makes a queer Western of his own with this bewitching short film. Hollywood it-star Pedro Pascal stars as Silva, a gunslinger who rides across the desert to see Jake (not Gyllenhaal, but Ethan Hawke!), an old friend he hasn’t seen in 25 years. After rekindling their old passion, Silva reveals the true reason for their reunion. A unique twist on a familiar genre, the short features outfits by fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, whose creative director Anthony Vaccarello co-produced the film.
