Drawing from the Ten Commandments for inspiration yet moving beyond the debates on religiosity, Krzysztof Kieślowski’s anthology series delves deep into the existential questions of morality, chance and fate, making it one of the greatest television series of all time. In The Decalogue: One, his dramatisation of the First Commandment revolves around a university professor, whose adamant faith in computer science ends up in a tragedy of his son. The Decalogue: Two brings in an ethically charged dilemma, when a doctor is asked by a woman to swear by his prognosis of her comatose husband, as his life or death is critical to her abortion decision.
